Articles Learning the importance of backup the hard way As an amateur photographer I have created a big collection of photos over the years. After loosing almost all my photos taken with my first digital camera (A Sony DSC-P1), I learned the hard way why I should do backups regularly. Hard disk drives crash when you least expect it, but you can be sure that it will happen some day. My backup methods have changed a lot over the years, from burning CDs and DVDs, simple file copying from one disk to another, and on to more automated systems.
